Balance is everything for this high school senior with big plans

After a friend told Beatriz Fonseca about Upkey and our Summer VIP program, she signed up right away. Fonseca is an ambitious high school senior from São Paulo, Brazil who has a passion for marketing. Her favorite part of her hometown is Avenue Paulista: an avenue that balances cultural and entertaining activities with businesses and journalism centers.

My admiration for Upkey and its effort to build a better world with prepared professionals is exponentially increasing day by day. Also, how they acknowledge and value students from all around the world and provide resources for all of them. Long story short, I am in love with Upkey.

Beatriz Fonseca.

Q: Who is your biggest role model?

A: I would say that my entire family is my biggest role model. My two grandmothers inspired me tremendously when it comes to persevering and having faith in the future.

My parents taught me how hard work and determination are crucial to establishing a happy life, career, and family.

Also, my brother has been my best friend for as long as I can remember and I appreciate his focus and the way he overcame the biggest downfalls in his life. They all inspire me in ways I cannot even express. There is simply too much love and admiration involved.

Q: What are you most proud of?

A: I am very proud of my values. I know that my character is something that has been formed since day one. And by that, I mean that each and every person or situation I have encountered has impacted the way I see life.

My hope, my goals, and my vulnerabilities are things I am not ashamed of in any way. I am proud of trying to be the best version of myself that I can be each day.

Q: What are you most passionate about?

A: I feel that I am a very multifaceted person. I am extremely passionate about art; music in particular and how it connects and influences people.

Furthermore, I am a very engaged person when it comes to social movements and how to solve society’s issues with communication and information. I also love marketing and business especially when they are used for good causes.

Upkey has become so much to me in these last few weeks. I am loving and learning so much I can’t even describe how grateful I feel. You guys change the world every day and I am so proud to be part of this.

Q: What professional goals do you have for yourself?

A: Well, my next step is going to college. I am a Senior in High School and I want to major in Marketing and/or Communication in the US.

My dream is to become a phenomenal communicator and marketer: understand the art of persuasion, explanation, and many other topics. Still, I am a very open-minded person so I am willing to explore new areas and situations at all times.

Q: How are you planning to reach these goals?

A: I believe that, with quality education, I am prepared to really dive deeper into the global workplace. That basically means that for the next few years I am really determined to gain experience in every aspect so that I can start clearly defining my future.

After that, I just hope to change and improve people’s lives and achieve a job that I am genuinely happy to be in.

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?

A: I see myself graduating from college and making important decisions regarding my life and career in five years. I can visualize new dreams and aspirations taking place so I can really start a new chapter in my life.

Q: What advice do you have for other students?

A: Please, balance your life. Anything in exaggeration can be bad for you. Balance your studying and your free time, your rest and hard work, etc.

Do not underestimate yourself. Ever.

Learn that you are the one who needs to stand up for yourself at all times. Put your mental health as a priority and never stop dreaming.

Nothing is as ours as our dreams!
